People in parts of Northwest D.C. are still unable to drink or use their tap water as tests have shown petroleum in that clear liquid we all take for granted.
Water that comes from taps in parts of Shaw and Logan Circle (seen in the map above) should not be used for drinking, making or washing food and showers. It can be used for laundry and flushing toilets, according to DC Water. Basically, don’t use water if it will be consumed in some way.
UPDATE: Some tests have come back positive for petroleum. The advisory remains in effect. (1/2) #ShawDC #LoganCircle

The issue was detected yesterday. Overnight and into the morning, DC Water crews flushed the “water distribution system in the affected area.” “The goal was to flush the contaminant out of the system by running large volumes of water out of the fire hydrants,” according to a release, but it appears that was unsuccessful.
A mobile water distribution center has been set up on O Street between 6th and 7th streets NW. People must bring their own containers. More information will be provided tonight by DC Water.
