We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: Do not drive drunk. It’s stupid. It’s illegal. It’s wrong. If you need to travel from one place to another, consider one of the below options.
Metrorail will be open until 2 a.m. “Last train times vary by station; add two hours to weekday last train times,” a release states. Find last train times here. Do not ride Metro if you are too drunk to walk.
Three Circulator routes will offer extended hours. The Georgetown-McPherson Square and Dupont Circle-Georgetown-Rosslyn routes will stop running at 2 a.m. The Adams Morgan route will stop at 4 a.m.
People over the age of 21 can use SoberRide, which offers cab rides up to $30. The program ends tomorrow morning, running from 10 p.m. today to 6 a.m. on January 1. Call 800-200-8294 (TAXI).
Collective Action for Safe Spaces will once again offer free rides to women and LGBT individuals anywhere in Northwest or Northeast D.C. between midnight and 3:30 a.m. on January 1. Call or text 202-556-4232.

Uber is warning that rides will be most expensive between 12:15 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. “For the most affordable rides, request right when the ball drops at midnight or wait until later for prices to return to normal,” Uber says. Lyft is also expecting increased prices. The company will donate $1 to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (up to $10,000) for every pledge “to keep the streets safe” it receives.
