Mayor-elect Muriel Bowser will be sworn in this morning, along with members of the Council, D.C.’s first elected attorney general and other elected officials.
The event, which was set to begin at 9:30 a.m., will be streamed live on Channels 13 and 16, and by local TV stations, including NBC4 (seen above).

Mayor-Elect Muriel Bowser will take her oath of office as the seventh elected Mayor of the District of Columbia shortly before noon. The oath will be administered by the Honorable Eric T. Washington, Chief Judge of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. The Honorable Vincent C. Gray will pass the seal to his successor.
Council Chairman Phil Mendelson, who previously served as an at-large member since 1998 and won a special election for Chairman in 2012, will be sworn into office by the Honorable Gladys Kessler of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. Three incumbents will also be sworn into office: the Honorable Kenyan McDuffie (Ward 5), Chair Pro Tempore, whose oath will be delivered by the Honorable Erik P. Christian of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia; the Honorable Anita Bonds (At-Large), with oath delivered by the Honorable Inez Smith Reid of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals; and the Honorable Mary M. Cheh (Ward 3), with oath delivered by the Honorable Colleen Kollar-Kotelly of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. Three new councilmembers will take the oath of office for the first time, the Honorable Brianne Nadeau (Ward 1), the Honorable Charles Allen (Ward 6), and the Honorable Elissa Silverman (At-Large). The Honorable Zoe Bush of Superior Court of the District of Columbia will swear Brianne Nadeau into office, while the Honorable Gregory E. Mize and the Honorable Noel T. Johnson, both of Superior Court of the District of Columbia, will administer the oath of office to Charles Allen and Elissa Silverman respectively.
The District’s first elected Attorney General will also take the oath of office. The Honorable Karl Racine will be sworn-in by the Honorable Emmet G. Sullivan of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.
The Swearing-In Ceremony for State Board of Education Members, Statehood Delegation and Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners (ANCs) will take place from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The State Board of Education members to be sworn into office are Laura Wilson Phelan (Ward 1), Ruth Wattenberg (Ward 3), Mark Jones (Ward 5) and Joe Weedon (Ward 6). Student Representatives of State Board of Education, Brian Contretas and Betal Asfaha, will be acknowledged.
The oath of office for the Shadow United States Senator and United States Representative will be administered at the 3:00 p.m. ceremony as well. The Honorable Paul Strauss, Shadow United States Senator, will receive the oath by the Honorable Corinne Beckwith of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, and the Honorable Franklin Garcia, Shadow United States Representative, whose oath will be administered by the Honorable José M. López of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. The oath of office for the newly elected and re-elected ANCs (Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners) will be administered by Councilmembers.
