As the Post reports, a motorist was involved in minor collision with the streetcar yesterday evening around 8 p.m. The District Department of Transportation said in a statement that, at about 8 p.m. last night, a motorist pulled in front of the streetcar and then slowed down, but the Post interviewed the driver of the car, who gave a different account:
But Dana Crumlin, of Upper Marlboro, who was in the car that was struck by the street car disputes that account.
Crumlin said she did not switch lanes as Sanders said, rather she had been traveling in the northbound lane at around 8 p.m. Wednesday night. She stopped at a red light in the 1400 block of H street, right across from the intersection of H and Florida “for about a minute” and then her vehicle was struck by the streetcar.
With less than two weeks until the proposed January 19th opening, this marks the eighth minor collision the streetcar has been involved in. Last weekend, the streetcar T-boned a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was cited for “failure to pay full time and attention.”
