Following Monday’s fatal smoke incident at L’Enfant Plaza, Metro has restored full service to the Yellow Line as of 8:15 p.m. last night. Moreover, according to Metro, no significant delays in the system this morning! Huzzah!

In a release, WMATA says that the incident train was “moved from its location near L’Enfant Plaza shortly before 8 p.m.” and is “currently en route to a rail yard where it will be held out of service for the ongoing NTSB investigation.”

Additionally, WMATA has issued a statement to all passengers who were aboard the incident train on Monday as to how they can reclaim any personal belongings they left behind during evacuation.

Metro says that those passengers can reclaim their property by calling Metro Customer Service at (202) 637-7000 between 6 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on weekdays and between 7 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on weekends. Beginning this afternoon, all belongings collected will be available to pickup at Metro’s headquarters (600 5th Street NW). Metro Transit Police will be there to help people reclaim their property.

In case getting to Metro’s headquarters is a difficult for anyone, Metro says they’ll “make alternate arrangements to return property.” Call the number above to arrange something.
