Laser Cat! Via Washington Project for the Arts.

A 20-foot “Laser Cat” is coming to The Yards. Welcome to 2015.

Seriously, whatever you have planned for February 20 and 21, cancel it now, for the Washington Project for the Arts and Forest City is bringing the Laser Cat to The Yards Park—the recently redeveloped Southeast waterfront park.

What is Laser Cat, you ask? Exactly what it sounds like: A 20-foot tall inflatable cat head that projects lasers and art from its eyes. Created by Barcelona-based creative studio Hungry Castle and commissioned by Hungry Castle and ADC Festival, Laser Cat beams art submissions from its eyes onto buildings via high-powered projections. Thus far, Laser Cat has received 15,000 art submissions to shoot out of its eyes around the world. This is truly the future, you guys.

According to a release, Laser Cat will be hanging out in D.C. for three different events. On Friday, February 20 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., Thievery Corporation’s Eric Hilton will lead live DJs in a frenetic Lazer Cat party, while Saturday, February 21 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., Laser Cat will project art from local artists. And for those who want to bring the kids to see Laser Cat, the family-friendly event is happening on Saturday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

And because you’ll probably want to drink while watching a giant cat beam art out of its eyes via lasers (who wouldn’t?), there will be a heated beer garden adjacent to said enormous feline of laser-projecting capabilities. The event, which is free, is all going down at 200 Tingey Street SE, and event-goers can RSVP here.

Bow down to your new Laser Cat overlord. No, seriously, look at this thing:
