The Animal Welfare League of Arlington is currently investigating a string of incidents in North Arlington involving the alleged poisoning of several dogs.

As first reported by ARLnow, several neighborhood listservs reported that at least two dogs have become sick after eating “raw sausages” allegedly stuffed with some sort of pills found along sidewalks in the neighborhood around North Columbus Street near Lee Highway.

According to ARLnow, the AWLA has recovered at least one of the sausages and has sent it to a lab for toxicology testing. At least one of the two sick dogs, AWLA says, is in critical condition.

In a statement, the AWLA says that it’s “unclear if this is a case of intentional poisoning or something else.”
