You’ve seen those goofy pink mustaches around town. No more! (Photo by Justin Sullivan/Getty Images.)
If D.C. residents knew just one thing about not-Uber ride-hailing service Lyft, it was probably the mustaches. The company had its drivers distinguish themselves from the competition (and from good fashion sense) by affixing giant, tacky pink fuzzy mustaches to their car’s grille, turning the District’s streets into a setting from some twisted Cars or Boogie Nights fan fiction.
Well, no more. Over the next few weeks, Lyft will swap out the giant ‘staches for pint-sized versions that will stick to dashboards with magnets, the Washington Business Journal reports. The company is calling them “Glowstaches,” because its customers still expect a certain degree of whimsy in their afternoon commute. Perhaps the newly shaved-down facial hair will help to smooth over relations between Lyft and the state of Virginia.
The Glowstaches are still pink, and now they will glow pink at night, as well. They won’t affect Lyft pricing, which NerdWallet recently estimated would run you $19,528.17 if you used only the service for an entire year.
