After a rough few weekends of scheduled track work, I’m happy to report that this weekend’s work is minimal. Hooray! Praise be! This weekend, only two Metro lines are undergoing track work. Here’s a look:

Red Line

Trains every 8-16 minutes on Saturday.

Saturday only, Red Line trains will operate every 16 minutes between Shady Grove and Glenmont (normal service is every 12 minutes). Additional trains will operate 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. between Shady Grove and Silver Spring, providing service every 8-10 minutes between these stations.

On Sunday, Red Line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals.

Work Performed: Joint elimination, track fastener and insulator renewal for a safer ride between Silver Spring and Wheaton.

Orange Line

Trains every 16 minutes on Saturday only; regular service on Sunday.

Saturday only, Orange Line trains will operate every 16 minutes, rather than every 12 minutes.

On Sunday, Orange Line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals.

Work Performed: Platform rehabilitation and emergency call box installation for a safer ride between Stadium-Armory and Cheverly.

No track work on the Silver, Blue, Yellow, or Green Lines. Celebrate by dancing like nobody’s watching.
