Perhaps the only bad thing to come from the closing of McFadden’s was that the Washington Psychotronic Film Society, once again, found themselves without a home.

But like a phoenix rising from the ashes—or, more appropriately, a decrepit zombie rising from a grave—the WPFS is back. According to an email, the long-running cult film society will now regularly host screenings at Acre 121(1400 Irving Street NW #109) in Columbia Heights.

WPFS will celebrate its 26th anniversary on Monday, February 9 with a “surprise reboot short film festival” at Acre 121 beginning at 8 p.m. In addition to the programming, they’re encouraging local filmmakers to bring works in progress and, if there’s time, they’ll screen them.

Following the short film festival, they’ll continue their regular schedule of screening movies every Monday at 8 p.m. at Acre 121. The upcoming schedule hasn’t been posted, but check their website for updates. Keep it weird, WPFS.
