The Georgetown waterfront’s newest restaurant is inspired by lazy afternoons out on the water.

DCist recently stopped in to check out the new space at the nautical-themed Orange Anchor (3050 K Street NW), opening on Friday. It’s the latest from the team behind Second State and Irish Whiskey in Dupont Circle, and Copperwood Tavern in Arlington.

The menu is built around American food with a coastal flare. Chincoteague Oysters can be ordered a variety of ways, from raw to cornmeal fried. Expect entrees to be centered around seafood and include choices like pecan trout ($20) and swordfish ($28). Meat eaters can select from items like duck breast, pork chops and filet mignon. There is also a wide selection of small plates, such as clams casino and seared scallops with foie gras.

Lighter fare consists of a selection of burgers and sandwiches, including a lobster roll. As an added bonus, boaters can even order sandwiches and ice to be delivered out to the docks at the Georgetown harbor.

The tropical-inspired cocktail menu ranges in price from $12 to $14, and most are centered around rum. The bar also stocks more than 40 varieties of the spirit—some are even orange infused. There’s also a decent selection of local draft and canned beers.

As part of its soft opening, the restaurant is offering 50 percent off food and drink all day this coming Wednesday and Thursday. Planned happy hour specials include $1 oysters from 5-6 p.m. as well as $1 off draft beers, signature cocktails and glasses of wine from 4-7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
