We may not be getting a museum devoted to the art and culture of science fiction any time in the near future, but D.C. will be getting a bible museum soon.

Tomorrow, construction begins on the Museum of the Bible—a 430,000-square-foot museum “dedicated to the impact, history and narrative of the Bible”—in Southwest D.C., three blocks from the U.S Capitol.

If you recall, way back in 2012, D.C. beat out Dallas and New York for the location of the museum, which as the Post reported, will operate as “a nonprofit umbrella group for the collection of the billionaire Green family of Oklahoma.”

Once completed, the museum will hold more than 500 “biblical texts and artifacts on display,” and feature five floors devoted to permanent exhibits. The Green family’s collection, which features more than 40,000 biblical antiquities—making it the world’s largest private collection of rare biblical texts and artifacts—will be housed in the museum.

Another fun fact: Steve Green, who serves as the Museum’s chairman of the board, is also the president of Hobby Lobby, which you may know from that big Supreme Court ruling over the summer.

Anyway, the Museum of the Bible, which upon completion will be valued at approximately $800 million, is set to open in 2017. Praise [insert deity of your choice here].
