TUESDAY: The Black’s Family Foundation, the non-profit arm of The Black Restaurant Group, presents the Inaugural Capital Cocktail Competition. Sixteen of the area’s best bartenders (eight teams of two) will compete in a “secret-ingredient, head-to-head bartending contest.” Ticket includes hors d’oeuvres. $2 beers and hurricanes will be available for purchase throughout the evening. THURSDAY: Dress up as your favorite celebrity and spend an evening celebrating all things Oscars during the Smithsonian Associates’ “A Red-Carpet Night with Oscar.” Film writer Noah Gittell will lead a discussion around the history of the Academy Awards, the most memorable Oscar ceremonies, and of course, this year’s nominations. Wax versions of your favorite celebrities will be available for photos ops. Ticket includes one complimentary drink, (cash bar also available).
