Kramerbooks regularly puts on exciting (and free) author talks, but this week will feature three especially unique events.

Wednesday, February 18th at 6:30 p.m.: “Cooks in the Bookstore” presents three renown Washington Post food experts at Kramerbooks: Food and Dining editor Joe Yonan, deputy Food/Recipe editor Bonnie Benwick, and Food contributor David Hagedorn. Bring your burning questions about food or cooking and get them answered here.

Thursday, February 19th at 8 p.m.: Valentine’s season isn’t over! The bookstore’s Second Annual Erotica Slam, held across the street from Kramerbooks at Hillyer Art Space, sounds like the perfect place for a meet-cute this week. Attendees are invited to share stories, ditties, and poetry about love and/or lust, whether they’re funny or serious, straight or gay, in iambic pentameter or haiku, and so on, as long as they’re under three minutes each.

At the end of the night, a prize will be awarded for the best performance, but every reader will go home with a piece of Kramerbooks swag. Doors and drinking starts at 7 p.m., contributors will be drawn from a hat at 7:50, and performances start at 8.

Monday, February 23rd at 8 p.m.: Kick off next week with Kramerbooks’ Evening of Humorous Readings. Host Brian Agler of The New Yorker, McSweeney’s, and Splitsider, with special guests Eric Hague (The New Yorker, Wall Street Journal, McSweeney’s), Jaci Pulice (Reductress, Hello Giggles), and Jon Wolper (GQ, McSweeney’s, Splitsider) will read their original, mostly unpublished works for your amusement.
