It’s almost the weekend, which means it’s time to start figuring out if you absolutely have to take the Metro at all over the next few days. My advice? Don’t. With some significant track work scheduled for a few lines, every Metro line will be experiencing delays this weekend. Also, it’s going to be cold. Like, historically cold. Thus you should probably stay home instead. Anyway, here’s what’s going on:

Red Line

Trains every 10-20 minutes.

From 12:01 a.m. Saturday through closing Sunday, buses replace Red Line trains at Bethesda Station only. Red Line trains will travel through Bethesda Station without stopping.

Red Line trains will operate as follows through closing Sunday:

  • Between Shady Grove and Glenmont: every 20 minutes throughout the weekend.
  • Between Shady Grove and Dupont Circle and Glenmont and Judiciary Square every 10-12 minutes Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. only

Station closed: Bethesda

Shuttle bus service will be provided every 5-10 minutes between Bethesda and Medical Center stations. Please allow an additional 15 minutes travel time.

Work Performed: Joint elimination, track fastener and insulator renewal for a safer ride between Dupont Circle and Judiciary Square. Delivery and installation of new entrance escalator at Bethesda.

Orange Line

Orange Line trains will operate every 16 minutes throughout the weekend due to single tracking between Stadium-Armory and Cheverly.

Work Performed: Platform rehabilitation and emergency call box installation for a safer ride between Stadium-Armory & Cheverly.

Silver Line

Silver Line trains will operate every 16 minutes throughout the weekend to coordinate with rebuilding on other lines.

Blue Line

Blue Line trains will operate every 16 minutes throughout the weekend to coordinate with rebuilding on other lines.

Yellow Line

Yellow Line trains will operate every 16 minutes throughout the weekend to coordinate with rebuilding on other lines.

All trains will operate to/from Mt. Vernon Sq, rather than Fort Totten. If you are traveling to or from a station north of Mt. Vernon Sq, use a Green Line train to complete your trip.

Green Line

Green Line trains will operate every 16 minutes throughout the weekend due to single tracking between L’Enfant Plaza & Navy Yard stations.

Work Performed: Joint elimination, track fastener and insulator renewal for a safer ride between L’Enfant Plaza & Navy Yard stations.
