Since the fatal smoke incident that occurred near the L’Enfant Plaza Metro in January, Metrorail riders feel, understandably, a little uneasy riding the trains. Yesterday, Metro worker’s union held a public hearing to discuss the growing safety concerns shared among Metro riders and passengers.
Today, Metro has released a video advising passengers what to do if they’re on a train experiencing a smoke or fire emergency.
“We encourage all of our customers to take a moment to review the new video,” Metro Interim General Manager and Chief Executive Officer Jack Requa said in a statement. “We will continue to take steps to improve safety and emergency preparedness for our riders in the weeks and months ahead.”
There’s three versions of the video: a 60-second English and Spanish version, that will be aired on local TV stations as a PSA, and a three-minute version for the Web (Metro didn’t make a three-minute Spanish version). Take a look at all of them below.
