If you were there, I’m sure this year’s White House Easter Egg Roll wasn’t weird at all. But out of context, a lot of these pictures from Getty just makes the whole affair seem like some sort of surreal David Lynch fever dream: there’s actress/producer Genevieve Goings very animatedly reading Dr. Seuss to some kids; an extremely unsettling Easter Bunny mascot lurking behind President Barack Obama in seemingly every shot; First Lady Michele Obama dancing with a dance troupe; and, of course, Obama awkwardly interacting with a bunch of youngins.
Oh, and Obama got hit in the face with a basketball.
Per the White House pool report, Obama played a few rounds of b-ball with some youth, led by Wizards players. He shot two for five in the game, but according to the pool report “a ball very lightly hit POTUS in the face when he was standing under the basket catching rebounds and Wizards’ Paul Pierce seemed to apologize for that.”
