This post is brought to you by the National Archives Foundation.
The National Archives Foundation has partnered with award-winning bartender and cocktail and spirits writer, Derek Brown, to curate a unique History of the Cocktail Series in conjunction with the National Archives Museum’s new exhibit: Spirited Republic: Alcohol in American History.
In this ten-part series, the top thinkers in spirits and cocktails, from authors to renowned bartenders, will discuss the impact of spirits and cocktails in America.
Each tasting series will highlight a period in American drinking from B.C.—before the cocktail—to the Platinum Age, the present age of cocktails.
Topics Include:
American Drinking B.C. (Before the Cocktail)
Our Founding Drinkers
The Birth of the Cocktail
The Golden Age of Cocktails
The Lost Generation: Prohibition and Its Aftermath
The Fine Art of Mixing Drinks
Tiki & Exotic Drinks
The Dark Ages: Cocktails in the 1970s-1990s
The Rebirth of the Cocktail
The Platinum Age of the Cocktail
Each event will also include a tasting followed by a moderated discussion on the specific topic.
