A nine-day march beginning in Staten Island to protest police brutality has made it to the District.

The ‘March 2 Justice,’ which was organized by Justice League NYC, has been making its way through the streets of D.C. this afternoon on their way to their final stop: the U.S. Capitol.

The marchers will be joined by DCFerguson, the NAACP DC Branch, and other groups on the West Lawn, where they will host a rally at 5 p.m. They will also present legislators with three pieces of legislation: the End Racial Profiling Act, the Stop Militarization of Law Enforcement Act, and the Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention Act.

“My body is aching, my toes are purple-bruised, and my spirit is uplifted,” wrote Milly Silva, executive vice president of 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East. “We must be tough and remember why we march—for Walter Scott, Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Akai Gurley, Trayvon Martin, Ramarley Graham, Sean Bell, and all the lives that have been lost to senseless violence.”
