It seems that D.C. drivers are increasingly paying attention to the location of the city’s cameras and slowing down. The District issued 282,021 citations from speed cameras in the fiscal year 2014—the fewest number since 2007.
That brought $37 million to the city’s coffers, less than half the previous year’s $76 million. The peak of both the number of citations issued and revenue came in 2012, when D.C. earned nearly $79 million on 845,475 tickets.

Meanwhile, the city will begin issuing tickets from six new speed cameras after the 30-day warning period ends at midnight:
- 6100 block of Eastern Avenue NE, southeastbound: 25 mph
- 3200 block of Fort Lincoln Drive NE, southbound: 25 mph
- 1900 block of Branch Avenue SE, southbound: 25 mph
- 600 block of Kenilworth Avenue NE, southbound: 25 mph
- 1400 South Capitol Street, northbound: 25 mph
- 1400 South Capitol Street, southbound: 25 mph
