As the Pope gears up for a D.C. visit this fall, more details of his agenda are beginning to emerge. Catholic University announced that Pope Francis will celebrate mass outdoors when he visits the District in September.
“We are overjoyed that Pope Francis will not only be coming to Washington but will be on the campus of our pontifical University,” Catholic University President John Garvey. “I know that it will be a great thrill for our students, faculty, and staff to see the Holy Father and to know that as he looks out over the congregation during the Mass, he will also be seeing the pathways and buildings that members of our community frequent every day on their way to and from class.”
In January, Pope Francis officially announced that he’ll be stopping in D.C. as part of a three-city tour this fall. Garvey has that Pope Francis will celebrate Mass “from the east portico of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception” on September 23.
No word if the Popemobile may be making an appearance in D.C as well, but one can only hope.
