Mark it on your calendars: D.C.’s annual Trans Pride celebration will take place on Saturday, May 16th.
This year’s Capital Trans Pride celebration is happening at the Reeves Municipal Center on U Street from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 16, with a number of workshops, events, and performances, including a Trans Visibility Walk
Though the city’s annual Pride celebration—which includes a parade and festival—will take place from June 3 -14, Trans Pride celebrates and recognizes the city’s trans community.
“Capital Trans Pride is an important part of the Pride celebration,” Ryan Bos, Executive Director of the Capital Pride Alliance, said in a statement. “D.C.’s transgender community is an integral component of the broader LGBTA community and we are committed to making sure that Capital Pride’s programming reflects inclusion and recognition of our transgender brothers and sisters.”
