Yes, you read that headline correctly. The Baltimore Sun reports that an off-duty Anne Arundel County police officer in Baltimore was charged with assault after biting another man’s testicles during a fight on Cinco de Mayo.
The cop, 31-year-old Michael Flaig, was arrested Tuesday night after he got into an altercation with another man outside of a bar in the Canton neighborhood of Baltimore. According to the Sun, the altercation started when Flaig allegedly groped one of the victim’s female roommates. When the victim told Flaig to stop, he refused and the two began to fight, which led to said testicle biting:
As the victim started to walk home, north in the 700 block of S. Linwood Street, police said Flaig ran up from behind and attempted to punch him in the face, but the man ducked. Flaig them pulled him to the ground. During the fight, the victim straddled over Flaig, keeping him from getting away when Flaig bit his testicles, police said.
“These charges are disturbing and we have an obligation as police officers to conduct ourselves in a professional manner on and off-duty,” Anne Arundel County Chief of Police Timothy J. Altomare said in a statement.
