Considering the commuting nightmare many D.C.-area residents experienced this morning, it’s as good a time as any to remind you that Bike to Work Day is this Friday.
The annual event celebrates exactly what it sounds like: the joy and pleasure of biking to work, instead of, you know, spending hours waiting for [INSERT USUAL MODE OF TRANSPORTATION HERE]. Or maybe you bike to work everyday, in which case May 15 is just Weekly Almost The Weekend Day. Either way, there’s a lot going on that you should know about.
There will be 79 pit stops across D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, where registered attendees (hey, do that here! It’s free!) can get free t-shirts (hell yeah) and enter to win prizes, like a new bike. You can see a map of all the pit stops below:
Last year, more than 16,700 people registered for Bike to Work Day and organizers are hoping even more will register this year. A full list of Bike to Work Day activities, including commuter convoys, ways to find a ride buddy, and more, can be found here.
