This is a stellar show featuring two bands whose demure-sounding names mask the power behind them. Philadelphia’s Hop Along (I know, I know … Philly AGAIN?!) are rising power-pop stars that deliver a gut-wrenching product of emotional lyrics, indie-rock production, and gripping vocals that are 100 percent magic. But where Hop Along exposes rough edges, Field Mouse sweetly glides; dreamy pop songs that are still smart, not naive. A total winning bill. — Tori Kerr

THURSDAY
Young Summer @ POV at W Washington Hotel. Free (RSVP required). 21+.
Though it feels as if D.C.’s own Young Summer has been around with us for longer than two years, singer Bobbie Allen’s solo project has experienced the sort of ubiquity that’s normally reserved for more established acts. Coming off an incredible 2014 run that saw a stream of hit singles and her debut album, Sirens, Young Summer continues to receive critical acclaim for her soulful vocals and poignant lyrics that effortlessly blend with a synth-pop instrumentation. Now on tour and teasing out some new collaborations, Young Summer returns to her roots this Thursday with a one-off performance at the W Washington Hotel, further cementing her status as one of the District’s premiere pop acts. — Dalton Vogler
