Second update: D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services spokesperson Tim Wilson confirms the pedestrian has died.
Update: Maryland Transit Authority officials confirmed that it was a MARC train that struck a pedestrian this morning. All MARC trains for suspended for about two hours as paramedics were addressing the situation. Trains are now running on a “limited basis,” MTA says.
Still no word on the condition of the pedestrian, but we’ll update as soon as we hear official reports.
Original post:
A pedestrian has been struck by a train just outside of Union Station.
D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services spokesperson Tim Wilson says units were dispatched to the scene—on a set of tracks that run parallel to the 900 block of New York Avenue NE—at about 9:50 a.m.
Wilson could not confirm the condition of the pedestrian struck by the train at this time. He says that paramedics are still on the scene. At least one MARC train was delayed because of the incident but it’s unclear if anymore trains are being impacted by the incident.
