If there’s one thing D.C. residents hate, it’s rats. And no—not the kind that snitches on you (though those are nonetheless annoying).

In October of 2013, the Logan Circle Advisory Neighborhood Commission hosted a rat summit to address concerns by District residents about the rat problem. There was no big plan to solve it, other than a promise by city officials to deal with the problem one block at a time.

Now, as the weather warms up, generating hot garbage all over the city, the Department of Public Works and the Department of Health’s Rodent and Vector Control Division (yes, it’s a real thing), are hosting an online live chat “to discuss how residents can control the District’s rodent population.”

The online rat summit will take place this Thursday at noon on the DWP’s website. According to a release, a “renowned urban rodentologist” will be on hand to “provide expert advice on vermin control.” Or to tell us that we’re all doomed, as it would happen if this were a movie (this is not a movie).

Though if it were a movie, perhaps D.C. just needs to find its own Willard-type character to befriend all the rats and lead them away from the city.
