THE WINNER: We banged our heads together for a good amount of time and finally came up with a winner.

I wanted to thank everyone who left comments, sent emails, and participated. There were some well-thought commentariat action on here. It wasn’t easy to pick one.

I hope to see some of you out during SAVOR week events (which I’ll post later this week) and at SAVOR.

Original post:

With the summer drinking season in full swing, the list of beer events is quite impressive—and it gets bigger every year. But SAVOR remains one of the most sought after tickets in the entire country.

With a sellout time usually measured in minutes, the Brewers Association’s formal affair is a great event for those who want to try some of the best and rarest beers in the U.S. and rub elbows with the American beer elite. More than 70 independent breweries from around the country will bring their flagship brews and whales to the National Building Museum on Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6.

Each brew is paired with food from a menu created by Chef Adam Dulye, Brewers Association executive chef, in collaboration with several world class chefs, Cicerones, and Brewers Association staff. In addition to the food pairings, the American Cheese Society rolls out an impressive spread of some of the best cheeses in the country and Chophouse Oyster Company satiates all your oyster cravings.

As we did in year’s past, DCist has a pair of tickets to give away. The details:

When:
Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6, 2015
7:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. ET

Where:
National Building Museum
401 F Street NW
Washington, D.C. 20001

Who:
Small and independent craft brewers from around the country
—28 states and Washington, D.C. are represented
—45 percent of breweries are first time SAVOR participants
—67 percent of the participating breweries were not at SAVOR last year

How:
So, how do you get these free tickets? By telling us your best hypothetical D.C. survival tale in the comments section of this post! What does that mean, exactly? See below:

Water in D.C. has been declared undrinkable for [insert reason involving CHUDs, viruses, terrorist attack, etc.], and the only potable substance left in the city is beer. Which local beer do you chose to subsist on and why?

A few guidelines:

—“Local” is to be considered within 50 mile radius.
—This is not meant to be the rarest or nerdiest beer tale: Simply more about why you would choose the beer.
—Tickets will be given away as a pair. Tickets cannot be transferred, gifted, or resold.
—We’ll pick a winner on Thursday and get your info to send you over the tickets.

Good luck to everyone and keep your eyes peeled for the SAVOR week events post coming out later this week. If you can’t get to SAVOR, there are dozens of events all around the area to get some great out-of-town beers.
