The Washington Monument is closed at the moment because of an electrical issue associated with the elevator, the National Park Service said.

No visitors are trapped in the elevator or on the observation deck. A contractor is working on the problem onsite.

NPS didn’t give a timeline for when the monument will reopen, but said visitors will be able to return “as soon as possible.”
