The storms that swept through the D.C. region yesterday evening may have been brief, but they sure packed a punch.

In fact, the amount of rain that fell during the thunderstorms yesterday evening set a new record, with the record amount at National Airport being 2.49 inches and BWI Airport 2.5 inches.
