In addition to DNA found on a pizza crust at the scene of the brutal quadruple homicide of the Savopoulos, police have now linked blood found on the suspect’s shoe to the victims.
CNN reports that authorities have linked blood found on the shoe of Daron Dylon Wint, who was arrested and charged with the murder of Savvas, Amy, and Philip Savopoulos and their housekeeper, Veralicia Figueroa. Wint has been charged with first-degree murder and is currently awaiting trial as prosecutors build a case against him.
Wint was arrested in the 1000 block of Rhode Island Avenue NE in the late hours of May 21. The bodies of the Savopoulos family and Figueroa were discovered on Thursday, May 14 after D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to reports of a fire at the their household, situated in the 3200 block of Woodland Drive NW.
After matching DNA found on a crust of pizza at the crime scene to Wint, police issued a warrant for his arrest. But police believe that Wint didn’t act alone and are continuing their investigation to find out what exactly happened to the Savopoulos and Figueroa.
