It’s going to be a scorcher this weekend, folks. Luckily, you won’t have to add “waiting for the Metro” to the list of things that can make you hot and bothered. At least, not really. Only three Metro lines will be experiencing scheduled track work this weekend, with the Greenbelt station on the Green Line closed entirely for work.

Take a look at what else is going on:

Red Line

Red Line trains will operate as follows throughout the weekend:

  • Between Shady Grove and Glenmont: regular weekend service (every 12-15 minutes).
  • Between Medical Center and Silver Spring: every 6-8 minutes from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. only.

Work Performed: Grout pad rehabilitation, ballast, track fastener and insulator renewal for a safer ride will cause Red Line trains to share one track between Medical Center & Grosvenor.

Orange Line

Orange Line trains will operate every 18 minutes throughout the weekend.

Work Performed: Orange Line trains will share one track between Stadium-Armory and Cheverly to allow for fastener, rail, tie and insulator renewal for a safer ride.

Green Line

Regular service except at Greenbelt Station; Buses replace trains Saturday and Sunday at Greenbelt.

Green Line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals between Branch Avenue and College Park.

Work Performed: Continued construction of a new test track located between College Park and Greenbelt to accept Metro’s new fleet of 7000-series railcars.
