The first day of summer isn’t until June 21, but considering the heat wave we’re currently experiencing, it’s safe to say summer has arrived early.

Today will be so hot that the D.C. area is under a heat advisory for the first time in 2015. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the entire D.C. area beginning at noon and lasting until 8 p.m. this evening.

The temperatures are expected to rise into the mid 90s, but with the heat index, that could feel like 100 degrees or more. As such, the NWS advises residents to wear light weight and loose fitting clothing and drink a lot of water.

Stay cool out there, D.C.
