Yesterday was a rough day for Metro. The Federal Transit Administrations report of a recent inspection of WMATA found that, well, a lot needs to be addressed. And quickly. As such, it should come as little surprise that all six Metro lines will be experiencing delays this weekend to allow maintenance to be done. Here’s what’s going on:

Red Line

Red Line trains will operate as follows throughout the weekend:

  • Between Shady Grove and Glenmont: regular weekend service (every 12-15 minutes).
  • Between Medical Center and Silver Spring: every 6-8 minutes from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. only.

Work Performed: Grout pad rehabilitation, ballast, track fastener and insulator renewal for a safer ride will cause Red Line trains to share one track between Medical Center & Grosvenor.
