Over 60,000 Instagram followers liked Michelle Obama’s post late last night: “Perfect evening for a @WhiteHouse Campout. Sleep tight, @GirlScouts!”
Did they sleep tight? They did not. Last night’s vicious thunderstorm forced the 50 lucky girl scouts chosen for the sleepover to relocate into a conference room in an office building adjacent to the White House.

The first-ever campout hosted by the White House was part of the first lady’s Let’s Move campaign to combat childhood obesity—part of which encourages youth to exercise and experience the outdoors.
But before it literally rained on their parade, the girl scouts were treated to a surprise visit by Michelle and President Barack Obama.
“What are you guys doing in my yard?” the president said as he walked up to the group of girl scouts. “When did you guys show up?”
