Normal service has just been restored to the Orange Line after a man was fatally struck by a train in what authorities are calling an “apparent suicide.”
A Metro spokesperson says that the incident occurred at about 5:30 a.m. when a man jumped in front of a crowded Orange Line train outside of the West Falls Church station. Nearly 200 people were aboard the train when the incident occurred and were all safely evacuated.
Trains on the Orange Line near the West Falls Church station were single-tracking all morning, causing heavy delays on the Orange, Blue, and Silver Lines. Metro says that normal service has now returned to the Orange Line and trains are no longer single-tracking at the West Falls Church station.
