For the first time in history, a sitting U.S. president will visit a federal prison.

President Barack Obama is slated to visit a El Reno, a federal prison in Oklahoma, next week as part of a special on the criminal justice system. The president will join VICE founder Shane Smith to tour the medium-security facility as well as meet with prisoners and prison staff, the news organization said.

Jason Hernandez, a man whose life sentence for drug charges was commuted by Obama two years ago, was once a prisoner there. Sentencing reform is one of the president’s priorities, and the New York Times has reported that he is planning to commute the sentences of dozens on non-violent drug offenders.

Obama’s visit to El Reno “will give our viewers a firsthand look into how the president is thinking about this problem, from the policy level down to one on one conversations with the men and women living this reality,” Smith said. “It’s going to be fascinating.”

The VICE special will air on HBO in the fall.
