The Metropolitan Police Department announced the arrest of two people in a child sex trafficking case.
Working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, police arrested a 35-year-old man on June 26 and charged him with first degree child sex abuse, pandering, sex trafficking of children, and distribution of marijuana. Jarnese Harris, 28, was also arrested today as a fugitive from justice from an arrest warrant charging her with sex trafficking of children.
Police said the act allegedly took place in the 3800 block of South Capitol Street Southeast on June 26.
According to The Washington Post, the mother of a 14-year-old girl went to police in May. Police then uncovered photographs of the girl on backpage.com, according to a police affadavit, which said as many as seven girls were being prostituted out of the apartment.
