That “switch problem,” as it turns out, was due to a man pulling the emergency switch aboard a Green Line train after he and his small child couldn’t get off at the L’Enfant Plaza station.
NBC4 reports that the incident happened at about 5 p.m. yesterday—right in the beginning of peak evening commuting time. The train stopped immediately after the emergency switch was pulled and, when the car stopped, the man and his child immediately left the car. That incident, along with a previous “signal problem” at the L’Enfant Plaza station, made for quite the evening fiasco for the Green Line.
Metro Transit Police are currently searching for the man.
