You’re so close to the holiday weekend, D.C. So close. We know you probably have weekend plans, and that those plans may necessitate a ride the old Metro, so here’s what you need to know for this weekend: four of six lines will be undergoing scheduled weekend track work.
Additionally, since Monday is a national holiday, Metro will be operating on a Sunday schedule, opening at 7 a.m. and closing at midnight. Off-peak fares are in effect all day and parking is free. Happy Labor Day!
Red Line
Red Line trains will operate every 20 minutes throughout the weekend.
Work performed: Joint elimination, switch maintenance, tie and insulator renewal for a safer ride will cause Red Line trains to share one track between Shady Grove & Twinbrook and Fort Totten & Silver Spring.
Orange Line
Orange Line trains will operate every 26 minutes throughout the weekend
Work performed: Rail fastener renewal and platform & grout pad rehabilitation will cause Orange Line trains to share one track between Clarendon & Foggy Bottom (Friday – Monday) and between Stadium-Armory & Cheverly (Friday – Sunday).
Silver Line
Silver Line trains will operate every 26 minutes throughout the weekend.
Work performed: Rail fastener renewal will cause Silver Line trains to share one track between Clarendon and Foggy Bottom.
Blue Line
Blue Line trains will operate every 26 minutes throughout the weekend.
Work performed: Rail fastener renewal will cause Blue Line trains to share one track between Arlington Cemetery and Foggy Bottom.
