When the Pope comes to visit next week, Metro is going to be a mess. WMATA knows this and, well, they’re going to do their best to prepare for it. Luckily, that means that there’s not a whole lot of significant track work scheduled for this weekend. Here’s what’s going on:
Red Line
Red Line trains will operate every 24 minutes throughout the weekend.
Work Performed: Rail tie, fastener and insulator renewal for a safer ride will cause Red Line trains to share one track between Friendship Heights & Van Ness and Judiciary Square & Rhode Island Avenue stations.
Blue Line
Blue Line trains will operate every 24 minutes throughout the weekend.
Work Performed: Rail fastener renewal will cause Blue Line trains to share one track between Braddock Road & Van Dorn St and Pentagon City and Arlington Cemetery.
Yellow Line
Yellow Line trains will operate every 24 minutes between Huntington and Mt. Vernon Sq only. Customers traveling to/from stations north of Mt. Vernon Sq should use a Green Line train to complete their trip.
Work Performed: Rail fastener renewal will cause Yellow Line trains to share one track between Braddock Road & Huntington and Pentagon City and L’Enfant Plaza.
