Now is the time to thin out your medicine cabinet. Throw out unwanted and expired prescriptions on Saturday—National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

The Metropolitan Police Department is participating again, so you can go to any police station to anonymously dispose of your meds, as well as the University of the District of Columbia and Bolling Air Force Base from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In addition to preventing drug abuse or accidental ingestion, safe disposal helps prevent the contamination of our water supplies. A full list of participating sites can be found on the Office of Diversion Control’s website. If you can’t make it on Saturday, the Department of Health and Flex Care Pharmacy both offer permanent drop sites.
