MONDAY
Father John Misty, Mikal Cronin @ Rams Head Live 7pm $30 All ages, accessible venue.
Father John Misty can be a dick. His music takes on 60’s singer-songwriters and mixes in a sharp wit known to piss people off. Mikal Cronin, the sometimes side man for Ty Segall, is the opposite of FJM but just as talented. While FJM is a lounge act, Mikal Cronin is a garage rocker with a pop bent. Both FJM and Cronin have played D.C. recently, but tonight’s show at Rams Head in Baltimore brings the two together for an essential show.

TUESDAY
The Neighbourhood, Bad Suns, Hunny @ 9:30 Club 7pm $40 All ages, accessible venue
Despite the stylized name, The Neighbourhood is from the U.S. The band has made waves on the modern rock chart with the infectious “Sweater Weather,” and they are set to release their sophomore album this fall. Like their music videos, their songs are gloomy and black and white, with influences from bummer rap thrown in. The band already sold-out their first date in D.C. but Tuesday’s show is still up for grabs.
WEDNESDAY
Hemlines, Homosuperior @ The Black Cat 7:30pm $10 All ages, accessible venue.
D.C.’s Hemlines has come a long way since putting out their demo in July. The feminist punk group has tightened up, becoming one of the best bands in the city, and they are now releasing their first EP All Your Homes. Wednesday’s show serves as the release party, and it is not to be missed. New queer punk band Homosuperior open the show.

THURSDAY
Bully, Heati Dead Soft @ Rock and Roll Hotel 7pm $12. All ages, accessible venue.
Nashville’s Bully is one of 2015’s best new bands. The four piece, fronted by the ferocious Alicia Bognanno, mixes 90’s loud/quiet alternative rock, à la Hole, into catchy power-pop songs. The band’s debut album Feels Like is one of the best of the year.

Dot Dash, Nox @ Comet Ping Pong 10pm $12 All ages, accessible venue.
Salad Days: A Decade of Punk In Washington, DC, which debuted earlier this year in cities around the world, is one of the many excellent documentaries about the D.C. hardcore scene. Now, it gets a DVD release. To celebrate, two great local bands, Dot Dash and Nox, are playing Comet Ping Pong. Dot Dash are riding high from the release of the still-great 2015 album Earthquakes & Tidal Waves. Punk three piece Nox is one of the best new bands in the area and only getting stronger.

SATURDAY
Ought, LVL Up, BRNDA @ Comet Ping Pong 10pm $12 All ages, accessible venue.
Plenty of bands take inspiration from post-punk, but Ought are special. They are touring on their brand new record Sun Coming Down and have quickly become a must-see live band. A lot of their songs have vibes from the Fall and singer Tim Darcy has a voice that recalls Mark E. Smith. Joining Ought are LVL UP, who have a similar feel, and DC band BRNDA.
