In a move that can only described as “pretty heavy,” Reston, VA will be renamed “Hill Valley” for the duration of the Washington West International Film Festival.

Fans of the film can thank the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors for the name change, which will been done in order to honor the 30th anniversary of Robert Zemeckis’ Back to the Future trilogy. For the somehow uninitiated: a young man travels back in time in an unpopular plutonium-powered sports car in order to save his older scientist friend from certain death and make sure his parents hook up at a high school dance, thus ensuring his own existence. You know, standard teenager stuff.

A variety of BttF-related activities will take place starting on the date that Marty McFly and Doc Brown visited in the sequel, including a marathon showing of the trilogy, a making-of documentary titled “Back In Time” with a live Q+A with the filmmakers, and a red carpet anniversary screening of the titular film, which will feature guests of honor Christopher Lloyd, Bob Gale (BttF co-writer and co-producer), and Claudia Wells (Marty’s girlfriend). All proceeds from the anniversary screening will go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research.

The Washington West International Film Festival, which is in its fifth year, hasn’t been entirely taken over by the triology, though. They will show a variety of other films, including the award-winning documentary Frame by Frame, which will be followed by a panel discussion featuring the Ambassador of Afghanistan Hamdullah Mohib. They had also planned to screen Another Way of Living: The Story of Reston, VA, but pulled it from the festival after the recent death of Reston founder Robert E. Simon, Jr.

The Washington West International Film Festival will run from October 21st to October 27th. Tickets can be purchased here.
