Tuesday

Boys Life, Josh Berwanger Band, and John Bustine @ Black Cat 7:30 $20. All ages, accessible venue.

Boy’s Life are a Kansas City four piece who released two records in the 90’s and quietly broke up in 1997. Riding the new emo scene, Boy’s Life are back on a reunion tour following the reissue of their second record Departures and Landfalls. If you are a fan of melodic post-hardcore, this show is not to be missed.

>>Comet Ping Pong: Crocodiles, Shark Week, and Dark Tunnels 9pm $12. All ages, accessible venue.

Wednesday

Landshapes and Tigers Are Bad For Horses @ DC9 8:30 $12. All ages, inaccessible venue

UK’s Landshapes were previously known as Lulu and the Lampshades, but as the story goes, they were accidentally booked as Landshapes from a typo and decided to carry on with the name. The band mixes girl group vocals with psychedelic indie rock. Landshapes are currently touring their new record Heyoon, out now on Bella Union.

>>Echo Stage: Disclosure, Claude VonStroke, and Pomo 8pm Sold Out. 18+, accessible venue.

Thursday

Here We Go Magic and Big Thief @ Rock & Roll Hotel 7pm $16. All ages, accessible venue.

Here We Go Magic are ever-evolving chameleons trying new things on each record, sometimes within one song. Over four records, the band has morphed into a powerhouse and their latest record Be Small might just be their best. Unlike previous records, Be Small was recorded mostly by primary songwriter Luke Temple and guitarist Michael Bloc, as the collective that backed them before disbanded. Though Temple has released solo-records before, Be Small is no doubt a Here We Go Magic record.

>>Fillmore Silver Spring: New Found Glory, Yellowcard, and Tigers Jaw. 7:30pm, $27. All ages, accessible venue.

>>Comet Ping Pong: Teen, Widowspeak, Ava Luna 9pm $12. All ages, accessible venue.

Friday

Autre Ne Veut, GEMS, and Mazed @ U St Music Hall 7pm $15. All ages, accessible venue.

Arthur Ashin aka Autre Ne Veut makes warped pop music with influences from R&B and jazz. His latest record Age of Transparency is his most bare record yet, and is the second in a trilogy of albums “exploring the difficulty of making personal connections in an impersonal time.” Following up his breakthrough smash Anxiety, Age of Transparency is fuller and doubles down on the songwriting that propelled him into the forefront. Opening for the show is former D.C. residents GEMS who play their first show here since decamping to LA to record their first full-length Kill the One You Love out next week. If you loved their first EP, you will enjoy the new record.

>>Howard Theatre: Bell Biv DeVoe 7:30pm $42.50 – $77.50. All ages, accessible venue.

>>Songbyrd Music House & Record Café: Witch Coast (album release) and Bless 8:30pm $10. All ages, accessible venue.

Sunday

The Darkness, These Raven Skies @ Fillmore Silver Spring. 8pm, $29. All ages, accessible venue.

Do you still believe in a thing called love? The Darkness do. In the twelve years since their debut record crashed on our shores, the band broke up only to re-form in 2011 and release a new record. This year saw the release of the band’s fourth record and it seems like they have no plans on stopping anytime soon. If you want to relive the early ought’s, this is the show to do it.

>>Black Cat: the Menzingers, MeWIthoutYou, Pianos Become the Teeth, and Restorations 6:30pm $20. All ages, accessible venue.
