With the Marine Corps Marathon slated to make a mess of the roads on Sunday, Metro is opening the system early and giving the city a reprieve from weekend track work. The same cannot be said for Saturday. Beginning on at 10 p.m. on Friday, there will be lengthy waits on five of six lines through closing on Saturday. Here is what you’re in for.
Saturday
Yellow Line trains operate regular Saturday schedule between Huntington and Mt. Vernon Square only
Red Line trains will operate every 18 minutes.
Green Line trains will operate every 16 minutes.
Orange, Silver and Blue line trains will operate every 26 minutes.
Sunday
Trains will operate at regular service frequencies throughout the day. The system will open at 5 a.m. to accommodate the marathon
The closest Metro stop to the start of the race is Pentagon on the Blue and Yellow lines. Riders may want to consider using Pentagon City as an alternate station due to potential crowding at Pentagon
