Alunageorge, Roland Tings @ U Street Music Hall 7pm, Sold Out All ages, accessible venue.
UK R&B duo Alunageroge have flirted with mainstream fame in the United States, but in the past year have been quiet. While their single “You Know You Like It” was co-opted by DJ Snake, and they group appeared on the Jack U record, not much else has been released. Next year, things are sure to change when the band release their long awaited sophomore record. Producer Roland Tings has also been on a roll. Tings, real name Rohan Newman, released his debut record in January and hasn’t looked back. Sure, the show is sold out but it is a solid bill.

Wednesday
Chance the Rapper @ Fillmore Silver Spring 8pm, Sold Out. All ages, accessible venue.
Chicago’s Chance the Rapper gets a lot of well-deserved blog love. His 2013 mixtape Acid Rap was one of the best albums of the year. This year Chance hooked up with Donnie Trumpet and the Social Experience for the record Surf, and while not billed under his own name, Chance is the star of the show. Live Chance is entertaining and captivating. Again, this show is sold-out but if you can find a way in, you will be pleased.

DC’s Teen Mom stuck it out making sweet indie-pop songs for the past three years, but like all things in this city, they are moving on. With two other great D.C. bands on the bill, Teen Mom’s goodbye show, while bittersweet, is sure to be a good time. RIP Teen Mom.

Friday
Gin Blossoms @ Howard Theatre 7:30pm $38.

Awhile back, the nostalgia wave hit the stratosphere with a tour featuring Everclear, Sugar Ray, and Gin Blossoms. Of all the bands on the bill, Gin Blossoms never lost their steam. The AZ band are frozen in amber; their songs sound like no time has passed. Though they won’t play “Hey Jealousy” for the entire set, Gin Blossoms have hits.
