Monday

Carly Rae Jepsen, K.Flay @ Fillmore Silver Spring 8pm $28. All ages, accessible venue.

If Taylor Swift is like Madonna at the height of her imperial phase, than Carly Rae Jepsen is Cindi Lauper. She is the cool girl taking risks—popularity be damned. Though it is hard to forget about the global smash “Call Me Maybe,” Jepsen has moved on and created one of the best albums of 2015 E-MO-TION. Jepsen recruited hip producers like Dev Hynes to refine her 80’s pop sound, and though she recorded a lot of songs for the album, she edited the list down to twelve bangers. The “Gimmie Love Tour” is sure to be one of the most fun shows of the fall.

Wednesday

Mitski, Palehound, PWR BTTM, Painted Zeros @ DC9 7:30 $14. All ages, inaccesible venue.

Let’s be real, four-band bills are exhausting, but sometimes if the line-up is strong, they can be great. Wednesday night’s show at DC9 is an example of a four-band bill done right. The night starts with a Brooklyn dream-pop band, who just released the gorgeous record Floriography. Queer-punk duo PWR BTTM also released a record this year, Ugly Cherries, which mines 90’s indie rock and Green Day pop-punk. Ellen Kempner records as Palehound, making loud confessional songs for fans of Speedy Ortiz. The night is capped off by Mitski who has been playing in D.C. a lot in the past year and whose profile rises more and more each time. It might be an exhausting show, but it will be worth every minute.

>>Black Cat: Hippocampus, Bad Bad Hats 7:30pm $12. All ages, accessible venue.

Thursday

Natalie Prass, Loamlands @ Rock and Roll Hotel 8pm $15. All ages, accessible venue.

Natalie Prass’s debut record arrived in January to rave reviews, and Prass hasn’t slowed down one bit. The singer returns to D.C. having had a big year moving from small stages to big music festivals. Prass may still be touring her debut record, but she is prepping a follow-up by way of the Side By Side EP, collecting two live songs and 3 covers. Prass is known for pulling out covers in her live show, last time playing Janet Jackson’s “Anytime Anyplace.”

>>DC9: Dilly Dally, Calm & Crisis. 8:30pm, $12. All ages, inaccesible venue.

>>Velvet Lounge: Brutalism (cassette release show), April + Vista, Half-Metal Alchemist

Friday

Fuzz, Walter @ Black Cat. 9pm, $15. All ages, accessible venue.

Ty Segall has many bands to his name, but when linked up with guitarist Charlie Moothart and bassit Chad Ubovich of the Meatbodies, the trio comprise Fuzz. Segall may be the singer, but in Fuzz he is also the drummer. The band’s music takes influence from 70’s metal, hard rock, and bong rips. The band just released their second album, the double record II. While not as tightly wound as their debut, it is still full of loud riffs to head bang to.

Sunday

Kate Boy, Aces @ Rock and Roll Hotel 8pm, $12. All ages, accessible venue.

Kate Boy move at a glacier pace. The Swedish electro-poppers have been slowly releasing songs since 2012, even embarking on a U.S. tour with only three songs released. The wait for a debut record has been long, but the band just released ONE last week and it is as good as the promising singles. Like fellow countrymen The Knife, Kate Boy take dark electro and mix in warped vocals. The music is catchy and danceable and will surely heat up Rock and Roll Hotel this Sunday.

>>Verizon Center: The Weeknd, Travi$ Scott, Hasley, Banks 7:30pm $39.50-$199. All ages, accessible venue.
