More than 6,000 locals are demanding that Donald Trump donate 500 trees to NOVA Parks by December 11.

A petition filed today against the presidential hopeful comes five years after Trump cut down about 450 trees along the Potomac River to create “idyllic, unobstructed views” of the river for his golf course in Loudoun County. Since then, Potomac Conservancy—an environmental non-profit working to protect the Potomac River—has rallied more than 6,300 people to sign the document.

“Trees are nature’s Brita filter and one of the most cost-effective ways to maintain the purity of local water quality,” said Hedrick Belin, president of Potomac Conservancy, in a statement today. Trump’s decision to chop the trees shows how “out of touch he is with the way we do business in Washington, D.C.,” he continued.

Beyond being an eyesore, the loss of trees “raises water temperatures, causes erosion, threatens local wildlife and degrades the biodiversity” of the river, said Robert Snowhite, a fly fishing teacher in Alexandria.

With five million residents who get their drinking water straight from the river, pollution and “Trump Stumps” are not an option, Snowhite said.

This isn’t the first time Trump has been under fire from people in the D.C. area. Earlier this year, he angered many after making disparaging remarks about immigrants, leading José Andrés to back out of opening a restaurant in his new hotel at the Old Post Office building.

The petition is hosted on Change.org and the conversation can be followed on Twitter using the hashtag #TrumpStumps.
