The man shown in a police video as the victim of sexual abuse revealed his identity in an interview with WJLA last night.

Washington Tharpe is a 40-year-old local middle school teacher whose blurred-out image became famous after D.C. police released a video of two women dancing on him and groping him at a convenience store. While the incident happened on October 7, MPD released the video on November 9.

Tharpe said that the twerking wasn’t why he called the police—it was the sustained attack of more than 10 minutes, much longer than the video shows. He thought the two women might be trying to rob him and he feared for his life.

Detectives from the Sexual Assault Unit arrested 22-year-old Ayanna Marie Knight, of Las Vegas, in connection with the incident on November 10. She has been charged with third degree sexual abuse. She appeared in court on Friday and remains in jail without bond until her next court appearance on the 24th.

The other woman in the video has not been found. There is now a warrant out for her arrest, according to WJLA.
